It was a long but interesting first day. I left Shilshole and was fortunate to have a light SSW wind about 7 to 10 Kts. I was able to motor sail with the big genoa to about Port Townsend when the wind died. I made a brief stop in Friday Harbor to check in with Canadian customs, I was pleasantly surprised that it only took a few minutes on hold and check in went smoothly. Heading back out into San Juan Pass about 1630, the wind piped up to about 14 kts so I unrolled the genoa and motor sailed at 6.4 kts with the engine RPM at 1600, (sailboat folks may appreciate the low RPM and decent speed), I suppose I could have motored faster but it was nice to have a little less noise for a while. ultimately the wind died at about 1730, so roll up the sail and back to motoring, I was lucky to get a bit of current push which helped with speed.

I'm anchored in Bedwell Harbor.. there are only about a half dozen boats here, (it's early in the season) so anchoring was easy. I love the quiet of being on anchor.

Heading to somewhere in the Gulf Islands tomorrow, probably Clam Bay one of my favorite anchorages in the Islands.
