It's Monday and a week since I left Puerta Vallarta. There wasn't much rest for the wicked and consequently not much rest for me last night. Fairtide had a difficult time maintaining course. Between banging sails and the speed and heeling that comes from comfortable broad reaching to screaming along close hauled, I was up a lot adjusting course.
This morning was cloudy and it's remained that way . About 1030 there was a brief rain shower and a significant increase in wind, from a mild 7 to 10 kts jumping up to 14 to 18. I reefed the main, adjusted the jib, and set about dialing in the Hydrovane. Now at 1315 with true wind between 15 and 19 kts I'm cruising along at 5 to 7 kts getting a nice push from the waves, even surfing down a few.
