I arrived in Eureka today about 1330 (1:30pm), tired but relatively unscathed. Under normal circumstances the trip from Coos Bay to Eureka should be about 20 hours, it took me 2 1/2 days.

One of the interesting things about sailing alone is self reliance. There's no one to help, no one to complain to, and no one to fix or solve problems for me. I like to think that I'm positive and resourceful however I will admit after the electrical problem in Port Orford and sailing in high winds and seas and consequently have my mainsail reefing system fail, while sitting at the helm knowing that I had hours of self steering and watch keeping ahead of me, for a brief few minutes wondered what I had gotten myself into.

A life lesson I learned from my parents in that in life we make decisions and choices and we have to live with and make the best of those decisions. And just because you don't like how things are turning out at any point along that timeline you don't get to quit. You started this Patrick, now you have to see it through to its conclusion.

I know that I'll have to figure out what in the reefing system broke and how to repair it, as well as how I can upgrade my electrical system so it is more reliable, but that's for another day.
