Writing as I sit comfortably at the Pt Angeles City Wharf, day one of my trip to Mexico comes to a close. I left the dock at Shilshole pretty damned near my planned departure time of 7 am, only 8 minutes late. The morning was cold and rainy with a light south wind and I was hopeful that I might get some sailing in but the wind gods had other ideas. The trip from Seattle to Pt Angeles is about 60 NM and took about 9 1/2 hours. As I got closer to Pt Townsend about 30 miles north of Seattle fog filled in getting thicker as I rounded the corner from Puget Sound to the Straits of Juan De Fuca with visibility down to less than a quarter mile at times. Sure glad I had radar and AIS, but as is the want of the gods, the radar wouldn't work, which meant much more vigilant watch keeping. Fortunately the fog lifted about 20 miles from Pt Angeles and the sun peaked through the clouds warming things up a bit.
