As most sailors and cruisers know the definition of cruising is "Fixing Your Boat in Exotic Places" and today was no exception! 🥴

Although I'm not sure that Port Angeles counts as an exotic place, it is the most exotic place I've been since leaving Seattle, and actually the only place 😉

As I noted in my previous post, my radar wasn't working on Wednesday when I left Seattle. This wasn't too serious for a day trip to Port Angeles, but heading offshore as a solo sailor this time of year with significant coastal fog and quite a bit of marine traffic it is imperative that I have this critical system operational. Today was a day of finding parts and troubleshooting the issue and by about 7pm this evening I had solved the problem. As it turns out there were two different but related problems, both, I'm reticent to admit, were my own doing. The first was some incorrect wiring a few weeks ago, due to my misunderstanding how the system was originally wired, and the second was a missing cable that I had removed, thinking that it was superfluous, Duh, it wasn't.

It seems no matter how prepared I think I am, there's some gremlin hiding in a lazarette waiting for a chance to cause some unforseen mischief.

If there's good news, and there always is, this SNAFU has given me more time to think about and check vital systems and rest a bit since the hectic pace of getting ready to leave on this voyage.
