Arrived at Gorge Harbor on Cortez Island in Desolation Sound. You enter Gorge via a narrow cut that's, at best, about 175 ft. wide with an islet right in the middle as you reach the harbor. After successfully getting through the "gorge" the harbor opens up to a huge and beautiful anchorage with a large island separating the east and west bays. There's fuel at the marina and a small store, laundry room with bathrooms and showers . Make sure you have enough Loonies and quarters for the showers and laundry. If you're short on change the store usually has some to buy.

Unfortunately the Marina restaurant that had wonderful food and overlooked the harbor, has been torn down, but they're planning to rebuild probably next year (2024) according to the Owners. In the summer months they often have free concerts with local musicians and it's great fun to grab some snacks, drinks and a blanket to sit on the grass and enjoy the music.

We are hoping that the Marina/Resort restaurant is rebuilt soon as it's a treat to stop by for drinks and lunch or dinner.
