I determined the best time to leave the anchorage in Useless Inlet would be early, before the wind picked up, as it seems to every afternoon, and on a flood tide to minimize the sea's confusion at and around the rocks at the entrance. My original plan was to find an anchorage in the Pinkerton Islands, however like many things in life, plans change. Due to the light morning wind, I was motoring and had time to look at the weather forecast for the next few days, along with Predict Wind's forecast for the Juan De Fuca Strait. Rain is predicted for the weekend and into next week in Barkley Sound and there's supposed to be moderate west wind in the Straits until mid week with increasing wind around Victoria and the Kitsap Peninsula.

With this information, I decided to go to Joe's Bay which puts me closer to Bamfield and leaving the Sound if I decide to.

Joe's Bay is a lovely anchorage with good holding in 30 to 35 feet, although the afternoon winds do tend to blow through the the Bay but they quiet down in the evening making for a peaceful nights and mornings.
