It's Sunday July 6. These last three days are what sailing is supposed to be. I've been putting a bit over 100 miles per day since my decision to motor out out the ITCZ doldrums. As the wind clocks around to be more from the east, sailing should get faster. I've been hoping for a 150 mile/24 hour day. So far my best is 137 on June 24th.
I'm 200 miles north of the equator and should cross it on Tuesday assuming the winds hold the current speed and angle.
Many people have asked (ok actually nobody asked) what it's like for the crew on Fairtide. We all seem to be getting along well taking turns on watch, cooking and being domestic. ππ
Typically I allow each crew member one beer at 1700 and a ration of rum in the evening πΊπΉπ.
Although I'm alone out here I don't have any feeling of loneliness. I'm sure it's because I have the ability and luxury of staying in touch with friends and family via Whatsapp, Facebook, email and text.
Thanks to everyone who is along for the ride on my journey.
