It's about 1900. I sailed the entire day yippee! π
It's been steady wind 9 to 12 kts all day and the forecast is for the same for the next few days.
I'm about 300 miles north of the equator, if the wind holds I should be crossing the equator about this time three days from now. That's going to be a major milestone for the trip and a mental milestone after all the delays and slow start that I've had. Granted, I knew I was getting a very very late start so it should come as no surprise the wind and weather are quite different than they would have been had I left Mexico a couple of months ago.
Oh well, we all climb our personal mountains, sometimes succeeding, sometimes not. In the case of crossing an ocean, failure is definitely not an option.
A friend sent me the following quote from a sailboat coming back from a race.
He described the day, north of the Azores, in which the boat lost its mizzenmast while hove to in a gale as βthe most exciting one thus far,β further noting: βwe should be discouraged if we allowed ourselves to indulge in such feelings"
I think about that quote when thinking about the slow progress I'm making. I certainly don't have time to indulge in such feelings. π
